Who we are

A Chattanooga builder with more than 20 years of residential and commercial experience.

Founder

At Dovetail Builders, we focus on thoughtful, well-built spaces that are made to last. Founded by Joe Gruss, Dovetail Builders brings more than 20 years of experience in residential and commercial construction, with a hands-on approach to every project from planning through completion.

We specialize in new construction, while also taking on additions and renovations that require creativity, problem-solving, and attention to detail. Whether it’s a custom home, a remodel, or a unique one-of-a-kind build, we enjoy projects that balance craftsmanship with practical design.

Based in Chattanooga, we draw a lot of inspiration from the outdoors and the character of the region around us. We believe construction should feel collaborative and straightforward, with clear communication, solid work, and spaces that feel right for the people using them.
